10 Things I Wish I Would Have Known Before Joining Young Living

WELLNESSKatie BritcherComment

#1 The community will be unlike any other you've experienced.

A few hours after purchasing a Premium Starter Kit and earning the coveted title of Young Living Member, I was added to an incredible online community through Facebook and haven't turned off my notifications since. Every day, I pop in to our product education group (and business group since I opted to turn my love of oils in to residual income) and become so encouraged by these women. These women have become people I confide in, trust to receive advice from, and remain encouraged by every single day. They're more than just my "oily team", they're family.

#2 The addiction to Ningxia Red is real.

In my starter kit, I received two packets of the immune-supporting, healthy energy level supporting, positive brain, joint, and hormone health, antioxidant-packed Ningxia Red to sample - thanks, YL! What I didn't realize was that those two little packets would become a staple in my everyday routine. A staple I couldn't go a day without. Now, my husband drinks it too and the addiction is real. Almost as real as our addiction to coffee. And if hubby takes the last of the Ningxia before telling me we're running low? Well, I can't promise his safety. Just kidding... sort of.

#3 The "business-side-of-things" is EXACTLY what it's cracked up to be.

It's no secret that we love Young Living. Well, a couple of years ago, I finally put two and two together and realized that I could be funding my monthly wellness box from Young Living just.by.sharing my love of oils and natural products with friends and family. Target, I love ya, but why don't you do the same thing?!

#4 When people tell you to load up on Peace & Calming, do it.

I learned this one the hard way. When Peace & Calming goes OOS and you don't have any on hand, you might as well go in to hibernation.

#5 Skepticism leads to kicking yourself later down the road.

If I had a dollar for every time someone joined Young Living and later told me they were kicking themselves for not starting sooner? Well, I'd have enough money to pay for my next Essential Rewards order. And it's not just other people - it's myself included!! Did you know that after purchasing my Premium Starter Kit, I let my kit sit on my shelf for longer than I'd like to admit? Not good. I was skeptical that these oils could do for me what so many other people claimed they'd done for them. After a few years using oils, I can now tell you that I wish I would have started sooner.

#6 People roll Thieves on their feet... and think it's normal.

Something I wish I would have known before starting Young Living is that the practice of rolling Thieves on the bottoms of your feet is totally and completely... normal? Yep, you read that right. Pop a roller top on that Thieves bottle and get to rolling! Your immune system will thank you.

#7 People won't leave you alone.

They'll be looking out for you. They'll be asking you how you're doing. They'll ask you about your kids. They'll wish you well. They'll pray for you. They'll be following up to see if you need anything or if they can help you at all. Annoying? Only if you hate it when people have your best interest at heart...

#8 You'll always be looking for fun ways to display your oil collection.

One of my top searches on Etsy and Amazon is "essential oil storage". Never did I ever think that the decor in my house would revolve around which shelves I'd purchase to display my oils. A wooden one for the bathroom, a tiered stand for the kitchen, a clear wall shelf in the office... so many options, so many oils!

#9 Eventually, you'll own a t-shirt with a cute oils saying on it.

"There's an oil for that.", "Eat, Pray, Oil" and so many others will appear on your Pinterest "Wishlist" board faster than you can say, 'Frankincense'.

#10 You'll be looking for ways to tell your friends about oils because you want everyone to experience what you've experienced.

The community, the oils, the non-toxic products, and the benefits of the business if that's the path you've chosen... there is SO much that you're going to want to share with your friends and family. When someone complains of head tension, you'll offer them Peppermint for support. When someone's stomach is wonky after a bad meal out, you'll offer them Digize. And when someone feels like they're missing something major in their life and wants a tribe that'll be there to support them in life, you'll mention to them the community that you've found in Young Living.
